Hurst Castle project area: PEDL 089

Norwest Energy has expanded its southern England acreage by farming into a strategically located onshore Wessex Basin permit, PEDL 089, which lies between the Company’s existing project interests and is in close proximity to the giant BP-operated Wytch Farm oil and gas field.

PEDL 089 comprises Norwest’s Hurst Castle project area. With three adjacent Wessex Basin leases, Norwest has a significant position in this overlooked region and can achieve exploration synergies across these blocks.

In January 2009, Norwest had an airborne GGI survey acquired over a section of PEDL 089 (in conjunction with surveying the Company’s neighbouring PEDL 239 permit). Interpretation of the survey indicates the Hurst Castle area has significant exploration potential and several potential leads and prospects have been identified.

In June 2009, Norwest committed to a farm-in agreement with the major holder of PEDL 089, unlisted British company Wessex Exploration Limited, entering an option to acquire operatorship and 60 per cent equity in the lease. Norwest has allocated funding for part of the project’s 2009 exploration program at an estimated cost of about £60,000. As part of this commitment, Norwest will conduct a more detailed technical review to further define and de-risk the project area’s potential prospects.
