A concentrated focus on the hydrocarbon fairway along the western flank of the onshore basin.

The northern Perth Basin, located in Western Australia, is a proven hydrocarbon province, with multiple conventional oil and gas fields, continuous commercial gas production from the Dongara area since 1971 and two gas pipelines in close proximity providing excellent access to required infrastructure.

Norwest maintains a valuable portfolio of tenements in the basin, and the Company's primary objective is to unlock the vast commercial potential to be realised by developing these assets.

AWE’s Waitsia gas discovery has opened a new play and re-ignited exploration activity in the northern Perth Basin.  The discovery is reported by AWE as potentially the largest discovery in the northern Perth Basin since the 60’s, and during testing flowed over 50 million scf/day.  The location of the Waitsia discovery adjacent to NWE tenements is highlighted in the map below.

Norwest's current focus is to participate in three wells within the next 12 to 18 months.

The first well is the exciting Xanadu-1 well, targeting 160 million barrels of unrisked recoverable oil.  The Xanadu prospect is located just 1200m offshore in shallow water, and can be drilled from onshore using a deviated well.  Once the Department of Mines and Petroleum have approved the Joint Venture Partners, Norwest will retain 25% of this permit, in this exciting drilling opportunity.

The second well is the Lockyer-Deep well located in EP368.  Empire Oil and Gas is the operator of this block, and is targeting a potential extension of AWE's Waitsia play, located adjacent and to the west.  Lockyer-Deep is a medium risk well, targeting between 25 and 134 BCF of gas, with a best case estimate of 58 BCF.  This well is planned for early 2018.

The third and final well is the follow-up well from the Arrowsmith discovery.  Arrowsmith-2 was drilled in mid-2011 and high-graded the Carynginia Formation and Irwin River Coal Measures as key target formations.  A 3D seismic survey was carried out in 2015, and the results are now being used to fine-tune the drilling location and targets for the next well.

Norwest retains interests in five permits within the northern Perth Basin, and is operator of four of these, with a significant total net footprint of 290,695 acres (1,176.4 km2).  The map of Western Australia below showcases the location of Norwest tenements within the basin, highlighting the close proximity to the necessary surface infrastructure critical for gas delivery projects such as Arrowsmith. With a strong demand from the local market, and a prevailing high gas price, Norwest sees great opportunity in delivering natural gas to the Western Australian market.

Norwest remains well positioned to develop the potential of its existing portfolio of projects, and will continue to explore all opportunities to enable ongoing wealth creation for shareholders.
